Weeks 9 and 10

Week 9

We did our pumpkin unit. We weighed the pumpkin. We measured the pumpkin We tested to see if pumpkins would float. We made a lapbook with our pumpkin worksheets. We ended our week by making pumpkin pie. That was the highlight to our Week 9. We kept up with math, reading, and TOG. We didn't do a TOG project since we were doing activities with our pumpkin unit. For SWR we made up our own spelling list from the words that had been previously missed.
Week 10
There aren't any pictures for this week.
Turtle Toes - has been reading Bob Books. He has read the first 6 and keeps plugging along. He is still adamant that we do math each day too. I do admit to trying not to do math with him everyday :)
I would like to use FIAR more. We have been busy with TOG which Turtle Toes participates in and so we haven't been doing FIAR. I really feel like he is missing out. I need to come up with a better plan for FIAR.
Turkey Lips - Has started reading a Robin Hood book and is enjoying that. (he was Robin Hood for Halloween) Math has been a struggle this week. We are learning about 100,000 and 10,000 and 1,000 place value. Turkey Lips is getting a little bit confused so we are going to keep working on it this week too. TOG we read The Squire and the Scroll and we all enjoyed that. We also read from our history book. We have started doing a daily reading for Thanksgiving as well. I found a download at The Homeschool E Store that has daily readings.
I would like to finish up our literature worksheet next week and also read our in depth history book on Joan of Arc.
This week we didn't have a project either. We will start doing some crafts for Thanksgiving now.
I need to plan out our Thanksgiving Unit. I also feel like I need to spend some time just going through everything to see where we are and where I would like to be by the end of the year.
That is about it :)
Thanks for reading.

The pumpkin unit looks like you all had fun! *Ü* Great project.

We are at a stand still at the moment with TOG. We left off on week 9. We have 1 week to complete and we will end our unit 1! We are about 2 weeks behind where we should be... but considering it right where we need to be. *Ü*

I have to post about our Lewis and Clark adventure still.... I hope to find time to do that soon. Just not enough hours in the day it feels sometimes.

You had a great week! Again, loved the pictures of your pumpkin unit! Have a great week to come!

I love how your pictures look on your blog. I have yet to figure out how to place them like that at my blog.

I have a sweet pumpkin sitting on the porch. Our plans are to make pumpkin pie from scratch. I am a little "scared" to give it a go, so the pumpkin just sits... looking sad... :o( Hopefully this week I will work up the courage. LOL :o)

Enjoyed reading your report.

Looks like fun! I like the lapbook. I'm with you, I feel like my 4yo is missing out by not doing some FIAR. I thought it would be too much on top of our 1st grade/SOTW activities, but I'm thinking about adding it back in after Christmas. Or maybe we'll start with Cranberry Thanksgiving!

Love, love, love it all - except the pumpkin pie. Lol! I am a complete freak for all things pumpkin (bread, pancakes, cookies, pound cake, fudge...) *except* pumpkin pie. Go figure! :)

Seriously, it all looks great. I will be eagerly watching to see if you start more FIAR. I have BFIAR to start with Haddon in January. I have never used it before and need to really sit down and read through it all. He *so* wants to do school with his big brother. It's just so hard with a 1yo in the house, kwim???

Take care and I'll be back soon!
